my City Stadium Run 2013 – 5K results

I just completed my first 5K!  And you know what… I was really slow.  And I couldn’t be happier!  Let me explain why…

First, it was even a fluke that I had a timing chip to share my results with everyone.  They accidentally had me listed as a runner instead of a walker, and only runners got timing chips.  But, even of the walkers, I was nearly last by only a few seconds.  I’m still so pumped.  Wanna know why?

I did it.

I didn’t do it to be first.  I didn’t do it to be in the middle of the pack.  I did it because a year ago I never could have completed it.  That’s what matters.  It was really cool to get to do it for a good cause too, as the City Stadium Run is in honor of our veterans.

In two weeks, I get to be proud all over again, when I do another 5K!

Thanks for being patient with the slowdown of posts while I was training to get ready.  There’s only so many hours in a day, and I needed to make sure my body was in proper shape to avoid injury.  I appreciate it!

That’s so awesome–both that you did it and that you have such a great attitude about it! The secret to being happy is not to compare yourself to others. Benchmarking is fine, but you should save the competing for yourself, like you do here.
